In my opinion, this song also deserves a thread of its own. Definitely in the top 5 on this CD. Painful, yes, but BS2 was always supposed to be the method for Reese and co. to explore the darker side of life and love and faith in their music. Do you think it's about someone who died? Or just a breakup? What about in the context of the fictional story? What's happening to the characters during this song?

My thoughts are that it's about a relationship because of the name and the whole metaphor of a binary start system.
To me it sort of touches on the futility of relationships...how you can try, how you can love so dearly...but unless that love is reciprocated then it would be like two stars who circle each other for all eternity but can never touch.
The moon is mentioned in the song and I know Reese mentioned a couple of times that his tattoo of the sun of his elbow would be hopefully one day matched with a girl that had a moon on hers...a sort of metaphor but then again this is possibly completely off base and just shows how scary my memory is when it comes to remembering random facts about a guy I've never met.
Is it me or is that in the song from 2:31-2:54 the melody was sampled from Super Mario Brothers 3? For some reason it always reminds me of a song from that game...

It definitely sounds a bit like the World 4 and World 6 map themes and Toad's store all COMBINED!!! I kinda thought the same myself... The instrumentation and sound of the awesome 8-bit music sounds eerily similar to Binary... : D I do also like how this song made me want to extensively (as in several hours on wikipedia) research Binary stars. Before I did I thought it was solely based on binary numerals meaning something like God was 1 (unity, wholeness) and he[Reese] was 0 (nothing). Regardless, I still think that is a viable way to interpret the song, and no doubt Reese thought of that while making it, but the main subjects are most certainly Binary stars. Great song overall. I'd rank it a solid tie for 4th on the CD along with Recall, Anastasia, and Babies Breath.
